Hi, I’m Shawna. I created the Behavior Support Toolbox because I believe something deeply: Behavior isn’t random. It’s communication. For years, I’ve worked alongside children, families, and educators navigating big emotions, challenging behaviors, and the moments that can feel overwhelming. I've learned that when we shift from control to understanding, everything changes. My approach is practical, calm, and grounded in real-life experience. I focus on helping adults decode behavior through a communication lens, create clear and visual expectations, prevent escalation before it starts, and respond safely and confidently during hard moments. I also emphasize the importance of repair after difficult situations and intentionally teaching the skills children need in order to succeed. I don’t believe in quick fixes. I believe in tools that not only work, but help children feel safe, understood, and capable. Whether you’re a teacher, paraprofessional, administrator, or support staff member, I’m here to walk alongside you as you build a behavior support approach grounded in understanding, connection, and skill-building.
